Questions:

  1. Does enabling the Mail protocol in the Anti Virus (AV) rule block spam mails or will it just check for attachment with virus?
  2. When the mails are checked in the AV rule, does it check only the attachments or does it check the mail signatures as well?

Solution:

Versa does not support Anti-spam feature yet. We currently scan only the attachments for Virus.

Currently we do not support proxy mode and recommend that the alert action is configured for Virus files (instead of drop/reset). This is recommended because of the way the e-mail protocols work – once the e-mail with the virus attachment is blocked, subsequent e-mails cannot be downloaded by the user. When the e-mail client connects again, it will try to get the first e-mail again, which had the virus attachment, and the session will get dropped again.

Versa will fix this, in our upcoming release so that we are able to block the virus file from getting downloaded, but at the same time, we don't affect the usability.
