Question:
How do I disable hyper-threading on a Versa 810/FW-3260 device?
Solution:
Note: Versa has already asked all the vendors to send the whitebox appliances with the hyper-threading disabled.
But in case they send them with non-versa certified configuration, we need to follow below procedure
Follow these steps to disable hyper-threading on a Versa Appliance
- Run the
sudo rebootCLI command to reboot the device or use the power cycle to reboot.
- Press the F2 or DEL keyboard button to enter the BIOS setup when the initial boot-up screen appears after the reboot in step 1.

- Use the arrows keys on the keyboard and navigate to the Hardware Menu.

- Select the CPU configuration in the sub-menu

- Select Hyper-Threading option and press Enteron the keyboard.
- Select Disabled option.
- Press Enter to save the configuration and exit to the main CPU menu.

- Press F4 to save and exit the BIOS setup.

- Press Enter to reboot the device.
- Run the
lscpulinux command to verify hyper-threading disablement. Use this command to also check the Total CPU count and Thread per Core.
