In a HA setup, when Active is not reachable to Standby, then Standby will check the reachability of Active through one or more controllers.

If Active is reachable to at least any one controller (device ping request from controller to Active) then Standby will go to NONE mode.

  • Standby will keep on checking reachability of Active NCS port 4566, every 15 seconds to change the mode from NONE to Standby once Active is reachable to Standby.

However, if Active node is not reachable to all controllers then, Auto failover will start after auto failover timeout, for promoting Standby to new Active and demoting old Active to new Standby.

So, the 'Director Ping Alarm from Controller' is expected when Active is not reachable to Standby.

For Controller, its not any issue, but background check triggered by secondary Director node, so this event might be logged as below in alarm_local log file.
