Manually Installing Trusty-Based OSSPACK for Pre-Upgrade Staging (Trusty EOS)

Summary

Trusty-based VOS releases are End of Support (EOS). As a result, Director's Package Downloads GUI (Inventory > Software Images > OS Security (OS SPack) > Package Downloads) no longer populates the Package dropdown when OS Type = Trusty is selected — the field stays on ---Please Select--- and blocks the Download action(Expected), since the spack server no longer serves Trusty packages through this workflow.

When You Still Need a Trusty OSSPACK

Some appliances ship from the factory running Trusty OS with no OSSPACK installed. Before OSU Orchestrator can perform a Trusty → Bionic OS upgrade on such a device, a Trusty-based OSSPACK must already be present on the appliance. Since Director's GUI cannot retrieve one, this package must be sourced and applied manually.

Workaround: Manual Download and Install

  1. Do not use Director's Package Downloads dialog for this — it will not return a Trusty package list.
  2. Manually download the Trusty OSSPACK binary from one of the following locations:
  3. Transfer the downloaded binary to the appliance, or Upload it into Director via the OS Security (OS SPack) > Package Downloads > Upload option so it is registered in Director's inventory.
  4. Install the OSSPACK on the appliance.
  5. Once the Trusty OSSPACK is confirmed installed, proceed with the Orchestrator-driven Trusty → Bionic upgrade as normal.
