TFTP is based on Acknowledgement for every data packets. Default block size is 512 bytes. If latency is high, it makes TFTP dead slow over WAN due to lower block size and acknowledgement needed for each packet.
Follow below steps to get better performance while using TFTP:
- Please use the underlay path between TFTP client and TFTP server which is lower latency, low packet loss and higher bandwidth. Please use Versa traffic steering capabilities to achieve this.
- Change default TFTP block size to 1300 bytes if WAN network PMTU is 1500 bytes (set TFTP block size to ‘PMTU – 200 bytes’)
- Please upgrade your TFTP which supports TFTP windows option if possible.
